How to Use CBD Oil

If you're new to CBD oil, it can feel a little foreign because most of us are used to taking supplements in a pill form. Once you give CBD oil a try, we think you'll find it to be pretty simple; just follow these tips to get the most out of your product.

Ingredients

Your Lily Hill CBD Oil contains organic extra virgin olive oil and full-spectrum hemp extract (and natural flavoring if you are using the mint flavor). It does not contain any preservatives or fillers.

Storage

Olive oil has a long shelf life and you can keep your product fresh by storing it away from heat and direct sunlight. We do not recommend storing your product in the refrigerator as the olive oil will solidify (it won't damage the product; if your CBD oil is exposed to cold, leave it at room temperature and it will return to its normal consistency). If stored properly, your CBD oil should stay fresh until the expiration date printed on the bottom of the bottle.

Administration

The best way to take your CBD oil is sublingually  (i.e., under your tongue). The tiny capillaries in your mouth will absorb the compounds in the CBD oil and you'll feel the effects more quickly than if you simply swallow it. First, give your bottle a good shake to make sure the CBD is distributed evenly in the product. Next, administer the CBD oil under your tongue, hold for 30 to 60 seconds and swallow. With this method, it will take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour to feel the effects and they will last approximately four to six hours.

If you don't like the taste of the CBD oil, you can get creative and add it to your food or drink. It works well in coffee, smoothies, soups, peanut butter, yogurt and more! If you need inspiration, check out some of the recipes here on our blog. Keep in mind that it will take a bit longer to feel the effects of the CBD if you ingest it this way.

Lastly, you can also use your CBD oil topically! Apply the oil directly to your skin where needed (you can also use our CBD salve for topical relief).

Dosage

The appropriate dose of CBD varies greatly from person to person because everyone metabolizes it differently. We recommend that you start with the recommended serving on the bottle and increase the dosage and/or frequency as needed. As you experiment to find your ideal dose, it can be helpful to write down how much you are taking, when you take it, and how you feel. If you have a health care provider who has experience with cannabis medicine, they can help you find the right dose for you.

All of our CBD oils come with measured droppers for precise dosing. In one full dropper (1 mL), the approximate amount of CBD is as follows:
